Before going to the alcohol treatment, let us review first some basic information about the word "alcohol" and "alcoholism."
Alcohol is the most abused drug and it is absorbed quickly in the stomach (20%) and small intestine (80%) and then metabolized by the liver within 12-24 hours. Alcohol also stimulates the release of endorphins and enkephalins which turn on the central dopamine reward system, so the conclusion: CNS depressant!!!
We can tell that a person is intoxicated if the Blood Alcohol Level is 100 - 150 mg/dl. or 0.15% (it is the legal definition of intoxication).
At 0.40%, the person will be in coma, respiratory depression or can be dead.
Now, according to WHO (World Health Organization), alcoholism can be define as a chronic disease or disorder characterized by excessive alcohol intake and interference in the individuals health, interpersonal relationship and economic functioning.
Alcohol Treatment
Alcoholic patient is subject to Aversion therapy and receive Antabuse or Disulfiram, an alcohol deterrent that delays the metabolism of alcohol.
Client should abstain from alcohol or any products that contains alcohol like elixirs, cough syrup, mouthwash, after shave, liniments and others for 12 hours before the initial dose. I have suffered from alcoholism and prescription drug addiction for 15 years. Now that I am clean I have published my story is a book called Constant Cravings: One Man’s True Story of His Struggle With Prescription Drug Addiction. My hope for this book is that it will help addicts and alcoholics and their families as much as writing it helped me.
It is avaliable at
